Hello all

On the lookout for decent gaming headset which won't break the bank.

Ideally I want 7.1 surround and USB connections.

I've been looking at the Corsair HS40 or the Logitech G930.

I know the Corsair has a built in chip for the 7.1, does the Logitech too? as I don't have a soundcard in my rig.

I want decent cupping over the ears and to block out other sounds, and decent sound quality.

Thanks!

Please dont bother with 7.1. You have two ears, you don't need it.
Get a Hyper X Cloud if you don't want to spend £100+ and be done with it.
Download the razer surround software if you want the surround sound nonsense.

I wanted 5/7.1 mainly for FPS games so I can hear the direction etc.. and I want to spend under £50.

I'll take a look at that headset.

Thanks

Given this current offer....you cant go far wrong with.....

Gaming CG-H2100 Dolby 7.1 Wireless Headset (CA-9011127-NA/RF) Refurbished Unit

Check out this thread....

CORSAIR H2100 DOLBY 7.1 WIRELESS GAMING HEADSET 'REFURB' - ONLY £44.99 (actually currently £39.99)

I am one of those who took the plunge...and so far, after a few hours..can say, definitely fair value for the money. :)

These look ideal, will do some research :)

All headsets are stereo. There's no such thing as a 5.1 or 7.1 headset other than the fact that the headphones will either be utilizing virtual surround sound via a soundcard (it's usb hardware) or software on the computer (e.g. Razer Surround).

HyperX Cloud has been reviewed and tested by gaming audiophiles worldwide and considered the best "gaming" headset you can get for the money. If you need the surround sound you can download the free version of Razer Surround.

HyperX Cloud will have a large soundstage which allows players to better hear directional sound.

If you must have a headset with usb connection then you can upgrade to the HyperX Cloud II.

For more info on how crappy gaming headsets are see:

Yeah I know they are stereo, and it's virtual surround being utilised etc.. hence why I said I wanted USB as I don't have a sound card.

I'll probably get the Corsair as it's cheaper and use the Razer software, £40 is around my limit.

Thanks.
