I posted about this some time ago here:

My daughter has been raising money by having money put into a laptop fund whenever she hit a target in her school work. Proud (but slightly worried about my money) dad moment as she has absolutely smashed the targets out of the park, and her laptop fund sits at £850! :)

So I turn to you guys to ask your advice. What's the best laptop she can get for about that money?

Thanks in advance for your help.

good on you :)

you defo want to go laptop route not desktop?
the spec will be set in stone with out any flexibility with laptop.
the gpu will be main limiting factor into the future i feel, being a 6gb card only, even 8 is questionable for the near future.
i get laptop is easy to store and move, so its a cost vs benifit game really.

what sort of games/genre is enjoyed?

if it was me i would probably go the

Medion Erazer Specialist P10 NVIDIA RTX 3060, 16GB, 16" 165Hz FHD+, Intel i7-12700H Gaming Laptop

of the two selected, mostly the bigger chassie, usually meaning better cooling, for gaming this is good.
but i wasnt able to find much in the way of reviews.

whats the life expectancy your hoping to get from the laptop?

possibly look at :

Medion Erazer Deputy P40 NVIDIA RTX 4060 (8gb RAM), 16GB, 15.6" FHD 144Hz, Intel i5-12450H Gaming Laptop

a little over your price range though.

or the Tuff series

i havent used any of these and they only youtube review i could find was in french.

I bought a second hand “like new” Razer 14” Blade from Evil Bay. 3070 equipped model and it stung me £1k. Could probably get one for closer to your budget if you were lucky.

I've been a desktop user for 20+ years. Was really reluctant moving to a laptop and I've been through a few the past couple years.

Finally settled on a Legion 5 and couldn't be happier. Fantastic kit.
