Got a pretty good solid build in my head but i want to see what u guys can come up with :D

Only thing im sure of is that:
1) Moniter is a: Viewsonic VX2025wm 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor
2) I'd like it to be a conroe system
3) I am absolutely clueless about the tower, so pls spec me a lovely breezy sexy one

Your mission if u choose to except it is to spec me one MONSTER of a gaming rig with a budget of approx £1600 (not including moniter/keyboard/mouse).

Thankyou, i look forward to seeing what u guys come up with

p.s all likings of cooling (be it air or water) and all likings of graphics (be it single/crossfire/sli) are very welcome - I wanna see as much variation as possible.

p.s.s Budget is a little flexible - would be willing to spend a little over the margin, i.e. ~£1700 if the system calls for it

Tower: Thermaltake Tsunami or Antec P180
Mobo: Asus A8n32 or A8N Premium or DFI Lanparty(better for overclocking)
CPU: AMD X2 4400+
Psu: OCZ Powerstream 520W or 600W
Heatsink: Thermaltake Big Typhoon or Zalman 9500
Video: evga 7900GT or 7900GTX or 7950GX2
HDD: Wester Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000rpm 16mb and 250 Caviar as secondary
RAM: anything fron Kingston, OCZ, Corsair, G.Skill 2GB dual channel

Lian Li S80 case, easily 10x better than the two listed above.

Building my main rig up in one now, and it is truely phenominal.

Case as Yewen suggests (Lian Li S80)

XS6800 conroe

Mobo depends on your choice of gfx card, if you want Crossfire/SLI. There'll be lots of new conroe mobos/revisions appearing in the next month or two, I'd wait until the last minute before choosing.

GFX is a toss-up between X1900XT or 7900GTX/7950

A lot of guys recommend the G.Skill 2x1Gb DDR2. Ram speed depends on whether you want to o'clock or not.

Thnks for the replies guys!

Sumik - Thnks for the spec. Gonna go for a conroe system tho

Yewen - Was hoping youd reccomend me a Lian-Li :D I must admit it looks pretty schnazzy! Am i right in believing it has 5 fans!! ?

Sir Random - Thnks man, forgot to note that i do intend on doing a little bit of overclocking. Also i will be ordering my parts in approx 2 months time to make way for the new boards.

Some great suggestions sofar. Keep em coming

You are wrong with that amount of fans.

3x 120mm and 1x 80mm high quality fans, the case is basically a case, within a box. Built to high standard and is the only case I have ever used that makes an audable difference to the noise of the PC, will not silence a computer but certainly muffles the noise unlike a P180.

Breaking for tea, then I will be posting pictures of my build later tonight in the case central part of OcUK, if you take a look tommorrow I think I will sell you the case.

Blows the v1000+ out the water, big style. That was my old case, and a v1000 which I thought was about as good as cases got for 2 years build quality wise but Lian Li really have outdone themselves on the S80. Takes a long time to build in to tidy cables but it is a joy to work with. :)

Hey i look forward to u convincing me :)

Tbh cos im making a gaming machine with the intent of some overclocking, cooling and decent space are my main priorities. Build quality however is also v v important to me and i must say the S80 is lookin pretty good

Thnks Carbine for the build, really appreciate all the posts u guys are sending!

you said you were planning on doing a little bit of overclocking... :p

Indeed i did my good man.

Those 460 squids could be divided nicely into other stuff tho - i mean thats the price of 2 of those Radeons :)

I must admit, would be nice to own a vapochill....Still, id feel guilty about all those squids - wouldn't want my Monster feeling inadaquate in other areas like haveing a small...........Graphics card :p

Yes but if you look at its budget its just right for a high end case.

Otherwise he may aswell put it into a PC7+ or Eclipse and be done with it.

PC7+ > Tsunami in build quality and cooling.
Eclipse > P180 in build quality and cooling.
PC7+ > P180 build quality.
P180 > PC7+ cooling.
