having a 890 crossfire motherboard and Nvidia gpu is pointless, you cant run a dual gpu setup.

six core cpu is pointless for gaming too.

you wont need win7 ultimate, home will do everything you need of it.

But I also think you should just get a normal monitor without the 3dvision thing all the reviews I have seen of 3dvision complain about headaches and sore eyes.

If you did want a SLI setup, then Intel is the way to go, with i5 being very fast at gaming.

there is absolutely no need to spend £3000 on a pc, a £1.5k top end one will do more than you can imagine, especially with a quality samsung monitor and a nice big case/psu that will out last the rest of the components.

if you want to see what £2.5K gets you.

SLI GTX580 and two 24"screens, you could even add a second monitor for surround gaming.

If you going for a £3k pc you should get a HP ZR30w with it too at least and SLI GTX470/480 or CF 6870.

No point spending £2000 on a tower if you not got a good monitor, even a 24 inch TN panel isn't good enough in my view but then again i am very picky with monitors.

You could go for Stulid's £2500 spec by removing the SSD aswell as monitor in exchange for a HP ZR30w then just add the SSD later i mean that's of course if you want an absolute monster of a pc that laughs at any game at 2560x1600 res.

now im no monitor expert.

But I thought that particular Samsung had one of those super duper panels that everyone raves on about?

Nvidia is better.

+1.

Scaling is much better.

Personally, I'd go with Stulids £1500 build with the GTX580 an the i5.
Easily tide you over for a few years, but if you're desperate to blow silly money then Stulids i7 950 and SLI GTX580s is certainly the way to go.

Look likes a TN panel to me, not read much about that one though then again the resolution you wouldn't consider for a £2k tower may aswell go 2560x1600.(i am not a fan of eye-infinity but that could be an option for the original poster if he decides to go for crossfire 6870s or whatever.)

The Dell isn't as good, has way way too high input lag(60ms vs 11ms) and you just paying for the extra menu options/connections when really you only need DVI to be honest.

I've got £3000 to spend on a pc as a present, spend any less and i dont get the rest:( ,so i like to get as close as poss, if you know what i mean:)

do you get to order it yourself or are you just picking parts and someone orders it for you?
if its you whos ordering it,maybe you could use the £1.5k build and transfer the rest onto your bank account hahaha
