Guys ,

Looking to build a gaming rig for my old man , however he does have a few restrictions. Need the whole lot , building from ground up , unsure of budget at the moment , just want to get a few suggestions first , The case must be a desktop case , no towers as it has to fit in his cupboard so the dimensions of the case are as follows
H - 5.5 but max of 6.5"
W - 14"
D - 15.5"

Must have 1tb Storage
Need a good gaming card , will be connected to my LCD HD Ready tv which has a max res of 1360x768 @60hz , I am open to suggestions , the main use will be for gaming.

Thanks in Advance

Very difficult given suggestion unless there is a budget. Your resolution is kind off low so a kick ass gaming card won't be needed. Give me a budget and I'll give you a good spec for that budget.

Can swap a few things round if you like

Couldn't find a case with your specific H x W X L so maybe someone can spec you that.

What sort of games will he be playing?

Thanks ,

Will be playing the latest games and upcoming games , prefer mainly Driving and FPS Shooters, like BC2 , I`m not sure of a budget yet , depends on how far my old man wants to go , i know he really needs a decent monitor tho. However i forgot to mention that he dont need O/S , Optical Drive , Sound Card ( Onboard sound would be ok ) and Keyboard and mouse.

The first and foremost thing to sort is a case.

Your case dimensions are rather small. Silverstone Sugo SG01B-F Evolution Aluminium Micro-ATX Case at £80 may fit the bill? Won't be the coolest rig and as such OC'ing and hot graphics cards may provide headroom limits.

The dimensions you specify would also indicate a Micro ATX motherboard, the likes of an Asus P7H55-M Intel H55 at £65 or Gigabyte P55 UD2M at £90 with 4gb of DDR3 and either a i3 or i5 processor may well fit the bill.

I would get soemthing like this, you could drop down to a 5770 to bring the cost down if it doesnt fit your budget. Just needs a case wasnt to sure which would be best at that werid size Lmao.

Ok , Have a budget of around £300 , Decided to keep the original case , same as the dimensions above , So i am looking for Mobo , VGA , RAM , CPU , PSU and Cooling i know £300 aint much to go on , but be honest if i cant get a decent gaming rig for that , let me know ,
Thanks Again

The problem you'll find is that in a decent gaming rig you will normally be spending over £300 just on the mobo, cpu, RAM and GPU, which means that you are overbudget even before getting a PSU.

Basically your only option would be to look secondhand if you want a 'decent gaming rig' at that price.

For £550 you can still get a 1TB hd and the rest of the system is decent aswell. I would get soemthing like this.

this is the best i could do trying to stick to £300, not sure if every even works together XD.
