I know what you are thinking but I have never bought a cooker in my life. So looking for advice here rather than signing up to mumsnet.

I am having a new kitchen fitted and looking to buy a new cooker and fridge freezer. Think I have the latter sorted as John Lewis have a couple I fancy and on the plus side they take away your old one for tge princely sum of 9 quid.

The cooker is a different matter, needs to be free standing, not cost more than £250. Does not need to be all singing all dancing as only one person in the house will use it as I no longer can eat solid food.
Size is not important but I suspect the smaller the better.

Any suggestions?

You mean a oven and hob combi? If yes £250 wont get you a great one more of a sort you'd find in a student dig.

Probably best at Argos or Currys.

No I don't mean a oven and hob combi. What I am looking for is a freestanding cooker with hob. What you are describing is an integrated set up which is built into the work surface and kitchen units.
I do know where to look for these things but am hoping for personal recommendations.

Not many options at that price.

Do you have an electric point for the oven? I'd always go for gas hobs/electric oven myself - costs a bit more than all gas, though, so you'd be limited to single cavity for the budget (i.e. one oven, rather than a second top oven/grill).

An all gas freestanding cooker, are we back in the 1980's? :p

If you are going for an all new kitchen and dont plan to go for a range type setup then surely it is far preferable to go integrated?
