My current laptop is dying so I'm looking for a new one. Core requirements are:
Stuff I'll be using it for:
I had a quick play with somebodies Thinkpad T420 a couple of weeks ago and was really impressed with the quality, so I've been thinking about Lenovos. At the moment I'm veering towards either the X220 with the Intel Core i3-2310M/HD3000, or a x121e , either with the i3/HD3000 or the E350 when it finally comes out. I'm just wondering if anyone else has suggestions either about models or about the hardware I'm pondering over.
Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated!
- Not slower than my current machine (HP TX2550ea, 2.2GHz Turion X2 Ultra, ATI HD3200 graphics. Shouldn't be hard to beat that.)
- Something around 12.1". I'd probably consider anything from 11" to 14" tops.
- Cool and QUIET. As much as I love my TX it chucks out a lot of heat even when idling on low power settings and the fan noise is driving me up the wall.
- Good build quality. This will need to last me a few years and will be taken travelling, to conferences, etc.
- £700 tops.
Stuff I'll be using it for:
- General web browsing, YouTubing, etc.
- Work. A lot of Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Some stats software but it won't be much heavier than Excel.
- Light gaming. As long as it can handle Minecraft and older stuff like HL2 I'll be happy.
- Movies. Probably not Blu-rays.
