Spec me a GFX card

So, I'm building a new machine, Q6600, 4gb RAM, etc etc.

I don't really know what to do about the graphics card... I'm not a huge game player, I have no need to live my life through maximum settings, though I will be getting a large monitor, so I guess it'll need to do highish resolutions.

I definately want nVidia. I seem to keep coming to the 8800's, but they're probably a bit more pricey and a bit more powerful than what I need - however it seems like one of those cases where you just need to spend £30 more for it to be great, instead of it being mediocre.

What would be the best direction for me to take? Thanks a lot for reading.

For a decent mid-range card, this is good advice.

Thought about second hand? You may be able to pick up an 8800GTX for the same sort of money.
