Guys,

Have just setup my mac mini (running xp mce) to record to a network share.

Currently working ok with my 100mb connection but its only a matter of time before i max it out.

What id like is a router with gigabit support on its ports.

I have the mac mini which is 10/100/1000, desktop card for my pc is relativley cheap and all my laptops support 10/100/1000 so seems like a good move.

Im currently using a Belkin Pre-N (F5D8230-4)cable router which even though is less than a year old is discontinued and no longer supported.

Dont get me wrong, i like the belkin, it gives me good range, very steady connection, PSK, and has never let me down but i wonder if theres more out there thats good.

Im hoping to sell the Pre-N model and recoup some of the cost.

Anyone reccomend me a router?

Cheers

a cheaper and easier prosect than finding a gigabit router is probably to look for a good normal router, then a gigabit switch to connect to it (the same way you can normally use 100mb switches to add aditional ports).

always an option,

however, just now i have a cable modem and router on the desk, id prefer not to have another psu and box on my desk

not short of the cash to be honest, just wondering if anyone had any experiance

cheers

maybe someone can correct me - but I havent seen any broadband routers (with inbuilt modem Im guessing you mean - cable or standard) that have gigabit switches in them.

I recently bought a seperate gigabit switch just for transferring files quicker locally between my three pc's even though I knew the broadband router would slow things down to 100mb max for external connnections.

Hi

I use a Dlink Gigabit Gaming Router the DGL-4300 and it has been flawless for me I do lots of P2P and newgroups hardly every have to reboot. I do not use the gigabit switch side so cannot comment on the speed of tansfer using that but the wireless performance is very good
