Spec me a gigabit wired router please!

I'd say if you require decent Gigabit switching capablility just get any old 100 meg cable router and buy a separate 5-8 port gigabit switch for £30-40. The built in switch fabric in consumer grade routers is rarely as good as that in a purpose built switch.

Yes, that's spot on. It's the set-up I use. Although my ADSL router does have gigabit ports, all devices (3 PCs, NAS, printer, powerline adapter) are connected to an 8-port Netgear gigabit switch. The switch gets on with switching so the router can concentrate on routing - everything doing what it's best at.

This is what you want - Netgear Prosafe GS108 connected to your router.

Simple & tidy plus it works :)
