Spec me a glossy Monitor

I realise that I am probably in a minority here but I prefer the "colour-popping" glossy displays over the matte ones or even displays that use anti-glare coating. Reflections don't bother me and I will not be using it in a position that it would be majorly afflected anyway.

I am typing this on my Asus UX21A ZenBook which has a glossy display which i'd like to get a similar spec on a Monitor.

my requirements are:

- minimum resolution of 2560x1440
- 27"-30"
- Budget up to £1000
- Main uses for Photoshop/Gaming/Website Design/Software Engineering

Currently I have a 24" HP 2475W display and although it is a good monitor, I feel the need to upgrade it for more resolution and a glossy display.

Looking around on Overclocker's, the Samsung S27B970D is at the top of my list for looks and specs but their description of it states it is Matt Black which is in contradiction to the TFT Central review I read which says it's a glossy display. It also appears to be a hard-to-find monitor  (It's out of stock on Overclockers)

What other monitors should I be looking at? (as generally most descriptions on Overclockers Monitors don't state whether it is Matt or Glossy)

I have the S27B970D and I love it! It looks as good sitting on my desk turned off as it does turned on - I know some will laugh at me for that but it's a nice bonus!

I love everything about it, colours are exquisite and pop out thanks in no small part to the Glass panel.

I can assure you it has a glossy panel and glossy screen - or to be precise - it has and edge to edge glass display almost identical to the Apple Cinema display.

For your uses, definitely the Samsung S27B970D (as above). The colour quality really is excellent with fantastic out-of-the-box calibration and uniformity correction. Matt Black refers to the colour of the bezel and some stand elements and never the screen surface.

On a technical note, the screen surface of the S27B970D is actually a very light anti-glare covered with glass. It is so light that most reviewers didn't even spot any differences between that and full on glossy. It helps reduce internal reflection and has very little negative impact on the image. :)

On your budget you might also want to consider the Overlord Tempest X270OC (from the USA). In addition to meeting your criteria, it has an overclockable PCB that allows you to bump it up beyond 60 and up to around 120Hz. A very nice feature for gaming.

However, they're currently sold out and won't be back in stock till mid-March, so if you need something sooner than around April then the Samsung would indeed be the way to go.
