Hi, its been a while since i last posted here (outside of MM anyway lol)

Basically i have been console gaming for the last few years, and sold my rig in favour of an i5 laptop.

However the bug bit again and i have found myself doing up an old desktop i got landed with, which has turned out to be a complete rebuild lol.

Anyway thats the background. I'm awaiting a Gigabyte DS4 mobo, Q8400 and have 4Gb OCZ gold DDR2. I left the the i5/i7 route in favour of getting solid 775 setup, i know its dead, but to be honest i haven't been overly amazed by the intel i series performance. Plus the cost is a major factor in my decision to stay 775 side.

Anywhoo, got home today to find a shiny invite to the Battlefield 3 Alpha testing :D, tried it on my laptop, it cried. I cried.

So i'm hoping i can get a decent experience with the setup above and a new graphics card: But which one? I'm aiming to spend no more than £150, but if for an extra tenner or so will make a massive difference then thats what i can do.

Will having a non i7 setup up hold me back much?

Also how long are cards these days? My new case is quite small but fits full ATX boards.

Also i was looking for a new PSU, if you can suggest a GPU could you also spec a minimum wattage needed if poss?

Thanks!... I've missed these forums :)

Not much, a Q8400 is quick'ish.

Awesome news!

What is the case? can you measure the space inside?

Its an iCute (dont laugh lol) with huge 250mm side fan. The PSU sits at the front on the bottom, but with that taken into account I measure about 250mm space for GPU, is that enough?

nice thanks! will an extra £10-£20 more get anything substantially better?

A good 500-550w PSU for that.

Awesome sauce, thanks for you help :)

Brilliant guys, thanks for your help, I think my savings may take a hit, but the GTX 560Ti seems like the clear choice, once again thanks.... now i can sleep lol.

EDIT: no, no sleep, got that review to read, thanks reaper!

More reading for you - http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Palit/GeForce_GTX_560_Ti_Sonic/28.html

Shows a GTX560ti with similar clock speeds to the gigabyte version.

Lol wonder why i was dead tired at work today, thanks for your advice man, appreciate it! went with your advice on the gigabyte 560ti OC at £180... although £194 inc special delivery  but worth it, as i want it tomorrow lol.

Nelviss - Mate every card I used to OC died within months lol, overvolting for me is like a bag of smack to Amy W..... oh.....

Lemin - thanks dude, i'm thinking 600w min to be sure..... 600 quality watts that is
