Hi,

Got a great deal on a prebuilt but need to add a GPU and possibly some extra memory and a small SSD drive to hold the operating system.

Here's my current setup:

- Windows 8 Home SP 1 32 bit
-I5 3330 3rd generation
- 6 GB RAM
- h61h2-lm3 v1.2 Motherboard
- 1 TB Had drive (wont know about this component untill io recive the machine)
-FSP350-60EMDN PSU

I have a budget of around £200

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I am not sure whether my motherborad would be compatable as I am not very knowledgable about builds.

Would I need to upgrade the PSU for these options.

Also would either of those options bottlekneck the cpu?

Yes you will need a new PSU, so realistically you want to go with a Radeon 7850 and XFX 450w PSU to stay within budget :)

Go for an AMD card if you are competent in using workarounds. I have read lots of threads recently with issues and swapping drivers around to get a particular game to work or doing an indepth cfg adjustment is quite normal.

It seems so many AMD cards suffer with coil whine after looking back through the forum but not a problem if you game with ear phones.

The 670 would be my choice.

I'm not exactly a fan of AMD's driver's having had a 6990 in the past but the 670 is out of his budget and possibly a bit overkill considering the CPU he's got.

At the end of the day we all know the value for money can't be ignored on the HD7000 series and even though you might find some games have problems, I think most of the mainstream games are well supported.

I think my best two options are the b grade 7850 and up grade the PSU just stick in a 7770 (which I can get for £83 with 3 games) and leave the PSU as is.

My question is now how much of a diffrence would there be between the two cards.

Would i be able to run BF3 with the 7770/ other recent games. I am not that bothered about ultra settings but would not want it to be obsolete too quickly.

Many thanks again in adavance for any replies.

The 7850 is getting on for almost twice the performance of the 7770. I'd upgrade your PSU anyways as its not a decent unit.
