I'm in the middle of building a new rig consisting of :-
-e6300 c2d
-gigabyte ds4
-2gb geil 6400 ultra low latency
-Enermax Liberty 620W
-antec nine hundered case
-Scythe Ninja cooler
-250gb seagate 7200.10 hdd

I'm stumped for a graphics card as i haven't bought one in ages! The gigabyte can do crossfire i believe so that might be an option or would i be better off with a powerfull single card?
I only game at 1280x1024. budget wise i'd say max at £300.

So guys spec me up please!

8800 GTS even at that res you can play with 16AA and 16AF lol with no slow down.

Plus it will hold its value when he comes to upgrade. :p

you should be able to do that with some of the lower speck gpu's at that res but i'd go for the 8800 anyway

Well i had a moment of oh what the hell and ordered the gainward 8800 gts, i have my psp for sale on the bay so that paid the extra. On reflection though i think i should have gone for the evga version so i could use the step up program for the refresh or to possibly get a gtx when i upgrade monitor early next year!

Have i made a boo-boo getting the gainward?

it is the cheapest but doesn't have the warranty of the evga or bfg... but do you realy think you'll need to step up? at that reselution it SHOULD last you a while! :D

Good choice on the GTS, but i wouldn't have gone for Gainward, nvm, and its also pointless going Crossfire on the DS4 as the 2nd PCI-E slot only runs at 4x, so your performance would have be crippled anyway if you went Crossfire with ATi cards, so the GTS is the best choice. :)

Although i dont really need to step up right now i was thinking of a monitor upgrade in the new year so could have used it then.
Cant wait for it to arrive, even paid for saturday delivery so should be here tomorrow!!!
LoadsaMoney why wouldn't you have gone for the gainward, i know as ca9phoenix said it doesn't have the warranty of the others but is there anything else i should know?
I wonder if the shop would let me swap it for an evga one and pay the difference?
