Hi guys,

I have been looking at 2 x GTX 460's in SLI but i'm unsure i ATi is better - 5970 maybe or 2 x 5850's?

I am completely unsure which route to go now?

I game at 1920 x 1200 and currently have a GTX 295 which is in my sig with the rest of my spec.

Thanks

GeForce 480 - £375 - if you prefer a single GPU solution but will have to cope with noise and temps
HIS Radeon 5970 - £437 - otherwise

2 x 460 is the way to go, sorry to say but SLI scales better than xfire, either go with the pre-overclocked models at 800Mhz or just buy stock ones and clock them, and 1GB models of course.

I would get a 480 if it was me. Gives you the option to add 1 or 2 more in the future.

Whereas once you get your 460 in SLI that's your limit.

It's basically the same case as with Crossfired Radeon 5770s and a single Radeon 5870. They cost a little less and would give a roughly equal performance but will limit any upgrade options in the future. Plus they leave you with multi-GPU issues that will pop up from time to time.

Thats it, i am gonna have to call a Mod as someone has stolen RavenXXX2's log in details to this forum and is posting 'Buy nvidia GPU'. We know the real Raven would never do this. :D

I would also go with 2 x 460's BUT i would make sure they had decent/quiet coolers on them as some are apparently a bit on the noisy side

I don't know what is wrong with your drivers, but I've been using Ati for years and I have never ever had any problems. Vote for the 5970 from me you won't be disappointed or the 5870.

if you want daul than GTX460 I would say HD5770 but you know the GTX460 is faster single plus tend to scale batter in SLI.

Unless your like me and want a single card, than GTX480/HD5870
