I don't game on my pc but I may start if the new mobo I have ordered fixes the stuttering issues I've had in CSS and CS:GO.

Main use - 99.9% office, internet browsing or torrenting with 0.1% gaming if I decide to get back into CS:GO, the only other game I will play is the walking dead.

Both of the above games aren't what you would call demanding in fact my current GFX card a 5+ year old 4850 does rather well, it's on it's last legs though (signal cuts out randomly on monitor). So I don't need a high end or even a mid end current graphics card. I do all my gaming on my PS4, so no need for a brilliant GPU for my PC.

I need something which uses very little electricity yet when called upon could play CS:GO @ a solid 60+fps on a 1680*1050 monitor.

Budget: as little as possible

CPU: 2500K @ stock

Main priority is power consumption tbh as 99.9% of my usage is just office stuff or music, etc. But it should be good enough should I ever feel the need to play CS:GO or the walking dead releases a new season, etc.

750ti looks to be the only one recommended so far. I guess there is no real competition to that?

My last few cards have all been AMD, I have no allegiance but usually they offered better value for money. I take it the playing field has changed since I was clued up about such things?

The R7 265/270 is quite a bit faster than the 750Ti around the same price, but they are about 40W higher in power consumption than the 750Ti (if both were under 100% load) and require one PCI-E 6pin external power (where 750Ti is bus-powered).

For idle and general office productive tasks exact, I doubt the power consumption would be much different since neither of them cards would be stressed.

Considering the games and res you mentioned, you'd probably don't need the extra grunt of the R7 265/270, as both them and 750Ti would be overkill for the game you will be using for anyway, so you might as well just go for the 750Ti.

Whee, the 750Ti is way overpowered for that, a card 1/6 the power would be more than ample for that res. Not sure what of the cheaper cards are any good at all though :(

You might want to check that the problem isn't with your monitor, or the monitor cable.

If I restart the PC it works again, without having to touch the cable or monitor.

I will also get a new monitor shortly though as well. I have upgraded everything on the PC apart from hard drives, monitor and GPU, so they are all on the to do list.

Monitor is roughly 10 years old, so it's in need of an upgrade. Still it will be hard to beat IPS NEC 20WGX2 Pro without spending a large chunk of cash. It's also in it's last legs, so it will be the next thing I upgrade before the hard drives.
