Spec Me A Graphics Card

After a bit of advice guys. My son is in the process of building his first PC gaming rig, I have built numerous PC's in the past but to be honest im a little rusty when it comes to Graphics cards as its been 6 odd years since I have purchased so any advice you have would be appreciated.

We are looking to buy AMD FX 8320, 8GB Ram, MSI 970 Gaming mobo and a 600W PSU. He will be using his current 1080p LED TV as a monitor and looking to play games like Dying light, GTA, etc etc at a pretty decent quality.

Budget is £145.

So close to being able to go Skylake 6600k bundle with DDR4, plus a 4GB R9 380, but each will push up the budget by £20+!

Is the 380 a much better buy than a 690?
