Hi everyone, my Palit GTX 980 just died and black screened. I need to buy a reasonably priced replacement and was thinking about;

GTX 1660 Ti https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-354-ms.html for £310.00.

The only game I ever play is World of Tanks. The 980 had it maxed out
Other than that Zoom video conferences, MS Office suite ie Word, Excel, Notes, Powerpoint, Skype etc.

I have a single 23.9" Asus 1940 x1080 monitor on 60fps thats a VS247, which I bought from OC, and the other day I was actually contemplating purchasing a second screen so that I can have a Zoom conference on one screen and other stuff open on the other screen. The above 1660ti seems to accommodate two screens.

For that money get a RX5700 good ones like the MECH going for £320. You can even buy reference 5700XT and undervolt it for that money.

2 days ago I bought my daughter the exact same 1660ti to upgrade her from an old 780ti (v similar performance to a 970/980), now she is staying home a bit.

It is great, I considered other options, but for her needs more is probably overkill, she plays LOL, Sims 4, GTA V at 1440p and it handles them brilliantly (She runs 3 screens off it). LOL she is getting around 200FPS on high settings. However I paid about £230 equivalent for hers, living overseas.

At £310, I think I may have bought the 5700xt which is available here for about that money.

However, I am sure for world of Tanks, the 1660 ti will be great, it is an amazing card and I think equivalent to the old 1070, which people never used to say was slow.

Looking at OC, I see that they have a 1660ti with a single fan for £248;

I would get this over the more expensive option. the 1660 ti runs really really cool, and you don't need to spend £70 on an up-rated 2 fan cooler. It is not as nice a card as the MSI, and output is more limited, but you still have an HDMI and DP for 2 screens

Because I play WOT, with a 5700XT hitting 140-160fps on 2560x1440 maxed out settings, so need to use the limiter at 143 to keep it in Freesync range.
That is bit more than the GTX1080Ti and +40% from the Vega 64. Just to give an indication of performance.

And "future proof" the game for the upcoming implementation of Intel Embree for ray tracing as is GPU agnostic yet pushes it hard.. :)

In the end I had a discussion with the Overclockers chap on the telephone and ended up purchasing a Gigabyte Gefore RTX 2060 as well as a new monitor and a display cable. Here = https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...ddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-1bj-gi.html

So when it gets delivered I can use the HDMI cable from the card to the old monitor and the display cable from the card to the new monitor which is a 144Hz, as opposed to my old one which was 60Hz. Havinf dual monitors for work purposes really helps produtivity and since I am stuck at home for a while it seemed a wothwhile investment.
