Well, as title really.

Have got NWN2, Dark Messiah, both fantastic games... but im looking for something new.

Possibly like the Final Fantasy Series? Love those ones!

Id like something immersing, that lasts a while, with a fair bit of fighting or something!

KOTOR is arguably the best modern RPG on PC. Ticks all your boxes.

Thats star wars, right? Never been into starwars but have heard good things about that game... would i have to know the star was story to be able to get into that game?

As said, it's out there with some of the best games ever made (in my opinion), and you don't really need to know very much about Star Wars films, just understand a little bit of the whole universe, as it's set 4000 years before any of the films take place anyway. Just need to know that Jedi = Light and Good, Sith = Dark and Bad, The Force = your magic source, Swords = Lightsabres ;)

KOTOR, once past the first planet (which is poor in relation to the rest of the game), is pretty amazing, story, some great twists and quite open and definitely replayable with totally different experiences.

KOTOR I should last you a good 25-40 hours through first time, and if you play it through again as bad (instead of say you play it as a good character first), the story and character development is quite different.

Then, if you do like KOTOR I, KOTOR II is a great follow up, if a little on the unfinished side, it's still a great game, and again highly replayable.

Baldurs Gate series. The pinnacle of PC RPGs. You can't get any better, and I personally think the graphics have aged very well. Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 with all the expansions you'll get quite a few months play out of them, thats playing every day!

KOTOR is worth a look at also, but I could never really get into it.

Baldurs Gate is possibly the most amazing game series to date. The story is fantastic. Even now i can remember fondly playing through BG 1 and BG2 back to back in a summer and thinking "jesus, i need to do that again". Make sure you save well though :P A couple of times ive played and just saved over the same game all the way through, then screwed something up, like talk to someone in the wrong way or my favourite, attacked a guard in Saradush then couldnt progress any further cause of a bug :P

You can get BG1, BG2 and both expansions for about £20 now. There's about 300 hours of gameplay right there. Bargain for the pinnicle of RPG gaming.

Awesome game, and I can recommend BGTuTu to get improved graphics on BG1.

Edit - are you after a "pure" RPG (which is what BG series is) or "Action" RPG's like Oblivion and Dark Messiah?

The BG games are epic. NWN1 is also excellent - much better than the pile of carp that was NWN2.

As an alternative suggestion - have you played Deus Ex? It's a mix of action/shooter/RPG and is one of the best (if not the best) games ever made.

Yeah, i LOVE oblivion, and Morrowind! Dark messiah was great, too. Completed Oblivion's expansion in a day, was great! So yeah, more of these kinds would be good i guess :)

I have to say i am more in to the sword & shield type (ie oblivion).

I think i played a BG demo a while back and never got round to getting the full game - Will check it out.

I found KOTOR II for £7, and KOTOR for £17.. would it be better to start with the first one?
Certainly go for KOTOR I first, as KOTOR II really wont make very much sense to you, story wise anyway, as it spoils part of the main story of KOTOR, plus KOTOR is overall the more superior game, and worth the extra £10.

BG1 and 2 are legendery RPG games. However they are very in depth and seen as one of the more hardcore RPG games. If you want bit more action type RPG buy oblivion and morrowind, even if you dont just buy them, they are awesome lol. Diablo 2, can be bought gor couple of quid and still holds up well today, simple yet gripping.

Just get FF7 and FF8! that will sort you out for RPG's. can never go wrong with a replay of those two!
