Dearest handbag fans!

The short of it is that the wife's birthday is this month. A while back she hinted at wanting a designer handbag so, that's what I'm going for. Now, this will be the first clothing-type-outfit gift I've ever bought her so I'm not going to spend too much in case it's wrong (besides, she's not really into labels that much so would just shout at me and make me smaller sandwiches), so I'm looking to spend £100-£200.

Now, there are bazillions within that price range so what I really want to know is:

A) Which labels are the fashionable ones at the moment?

B) Which labels are the timeless 'classics'?

Thanks in advance (I really don't have a clue).

Good luck. The only handbag brand I know of is Radley. It has a little dog logo thing!?!?!

Take her out shopping and try and bring the topic in to conversation by walking past a shop that sells bags somehow. That way you can find out the one she wants and you can't get the wrong one. Failing that go with a Tesco carrier bag. Least if she doesn't like it you won't be down any money, but you're well in if she does like it. Win win situation if you ask me.

Ive bought my wife a few Mulberry handbags now and they are very popular with women but they do start around £600 unfortunatey

Just to clarify, I know the kind of style I'll be going for, I just need to know which labels are 'in vogue'.

Failing that, I'll gugess I'll have to take her shopping, but I'd rather it was a surprise.

The classics like LV, D&G, Chanel are always going to be in vogue.

A few more: Cloe, YSL, Hermes, Mulberry, Fendi and Dior. You might find they are a wee bit on the expensive side.

Just take her shopping and get her to pick one she likes and buy it there, if you pick it yourself, you're more than likely to a) get it wrong, b) make her think you've got something to hide, or c) both. Just play it safe and get her the one she exactly wants.
