I've been out the PC game for over a decade. Still using a q6600 2.4 at 3.5 but with a nvidia 480 at 870mhz but 8gb ram & ssd now.
As NMS is not on Xbox ive brought this 11yr old gaming rig back to life but the game is killing the GPU at 100% load which has turned the tower into a fan heater. The CPU however runs about 40% in game. Though playable at 1080p medium/low about 40fps.
Rather than get an 8bit PS4 just for 1 game I thought of updating the GPU.
If I got a r480 or 1060 would the game go much better in this antique rig?
Another consideration is I play games on a 4k 10bit hdr capable TV. I've been using the xb1s for Netflix hdr & uhd hdr so am sold by rec2020 & hdr. (I think VR will go the way of 3D).
My current nvidia 480 only has HDMI 1.4. What GPU can do hdmi2 10bit hdr? There's not much online about this but the r480 can do hdr through the display port so would a dp to HDMI converter still maintain hdr?
I know my old rig won't be able play games at 4k tho... waiting for Zen?
Thx
