Hello all,

I've decided I want to get two pairs of headsets one for the PC and one for the Xbox.

Here's my problem, with so many out there to look at and buy whats a good price well made headset that you can wear for long gaming periods?

Also

Whats best, a good set of Stereo headphones or 5.1 headphone, whats the pro's and cons of both??

I'm looking to spend upto £100 on both so £50 each, I use PC more then Xbox so I dont mind spending less on xbox if it means getting a better PC set.

Many thanks if you can help me.

I guess the main things to think about are, do you want your ears to be enclosed by the headphones or for them to rest on your ears. If you have glasses like me you'd need to have ones that rest on your ears to prevent your glasses pushing into your head. I have loved sennheiser pc150's they are old but do the job. Maybe think about whether you want to use your onboard soundcard a pci soundcard or one in the headphones as some come with soundcards built in them these days.

Headsets do break as you use them all the time so expect them to last 1-2years and build that into your choice.

I would get a USB headset so that you can use the same headset on both your PC and console and hence spend your entire budget on a single headset to get higher quality. It seems a bit pointless getting individual headsets unless you are planning on sharing them?

I've looked into the USB ones, and it appears that to use any headsets on xbox you have to plug them in via the AV cables at the back on the xbox the USB side of things is only to power the headset,

The annoying thing is i'd have to keep unplugging them from the xbox to plug in to the PC and vice versa this is a lot of hassle for me as I'd have to move out the PC desk everytime I wanted to use them.

So I was thinking just get two sets of headphones and just put on the ones I want to use without any hassle..

Good question, I think i'd like my ears to be incased, I dont wear glasses, That being said I had a pair of Goldring 150's and they made my ears very hot after about an hour or so playng, I'd like to avoid this if possible on the new headsets.

I think I may have found a solution (MAYBE) IF I buy http://www.amazon.co.uk/Speedlink-L...NYEQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1356617428&sr=8-4

If I understand it correctly I can plug in some PC headsets and get sound and mic from my xbox controller?? is this correct??

Have used a speedlink medusa before 5.1 with normal audio leads and one with usb and audio leads but the build quality didn't survive past a year with either set. One thing to consider with enclosed headphones is that with the heat ear wax can heat up meaning the inside of your ears get itchy.

As I wear headphones a lot I seem to use cotton buds more.

Just a thought.
