Now I have a car of my own, and finally one that has a normal DIN sized socket where an aftermarket headunit won't look horribly out of place, I'd like to get the functionality I want out of a car stereo.

Bluetooth, preferably with an external mic and noise reduction.
A2DP - very important.
USB connectivity - important, but not 100% essential - it shouldn't be on the front panel though.
native iPod/iPhone connectivity - preferable as I'd like one in the future, but not essential.

Something a year or two old would be brilliant so I can find one on a popular auction site, but if something new was reasonably priced then fair enough, I just see £200 for a car stereo a little excessive.

a friend of mine has recently got a Alpine CDE-113BTHAL and rates it highly.

you can get them on auction sites, maybe find a cheaper one.

seems like it fits the bill with your requirements.
