Hi, i've just got back into overclocking, but i don't know if its the summer or what but my CPU is 58 degs under extreme load. Worrying a little, might need to lower the volts. Anyway, i'm really after a new HSF, one that is not so noisy it gets annoying, but i would like it to be quiet as possible. i have the stock HSF atm for my A64 and i know the CFM is rubbish, but its also nice n quiet.

So bottom line, i'm looking at something with the most efficient cooling but the fan no noisier than 25db. Was looking at vapochill, anygood?

Anyway, if you could give me some ideas i'd be v thankful.

Cheers

Freezer 64 pro, Tuniq tower, xp 120 + akasa amber, zalman cnps 7700/8000/9500, Tt Bigtyphoon, scythe mine/ninja etc

Theres loads to pick from, Tuniq being the best of the lot and the freezer pro being the best value and also quiet. I have seen it for as little as £12 (payed 11 for mine from here on offer)

You could go for the zalman CNPS9500-AT Aero Flower but the freezer pro is cheaper and seems to be the fav choice in these forums :D

I have the copper coloured Zalman CNPS9500. It's an absolutely superb cooler and looks the part too. It's inaudible on silent and makes a quiet (but fairly distinctive) sound on high. I would highly recommend it.

// EDIT // As for vapochill ... I don't hear good things. You could certainly spend your money more wisely, anyway.

Hi, decided in the end to just buy a Thermaltake golden orb. I heard that with some 120mm fans n large heatsinks it makes it difficult/impossible to remove ram modules etc. The golden orb is 100mm fan with 17db and pushing 40cfm of air, and i thought this was wonderful. Also it had many decent reviews. The freezer 64 would be fantastic, but it is very loud i think. it states that it is 0.8 sones which is around 26-30db. Much too loud for me.

Freezer 64 pro is probably 25db at full speed and 20db at 80% (1800rpm and silent with all case fans @ 5v/seasonic PSU and zalman graphics @ 5v) which barely affects cooling and Thermaltake lie about fan specs... also the fan on the freezer takes two secs to remove so you can get RAM out.

Should have listened tbh

I went from a Blue Orb to a Big Typhoon and the difference was large.
Had severe probs fitting my Blue Orb to my ASUS board too due to the fact its low and wide.
