Hi I am currently using a 12 month old Samsung piece of cak( core 2 duo, 2gb ram 250gb hdd and built in gfx card. I am looking for a well made laptop that isn't a Macbook or Sony Vaio I have, used one and didn't think the build quality was that good on the Vaio.

This laptop doesn't have to be super powerful just a little but better than what I have now. Budget is £1000<

dell adamo maybe, but it could be a little underpowered depending on your requirements, it can be had for £1000 from a certain pc store (online atleast)

Wow that is sleeek! Any other suggestions? Are Thinkpad good? They seem overpriced.

the adamo has just had an update today (typically just after I posted too!)
linky so its actually a faster machine now.

thinkpad are usually highly regarded although I'm not sure if the lenovo ownership has done anything to their quality.

Dell Lattitude is well built, Magnisium Alloy casing I think.

Mines been in and out a bag daily and still looks great.

Thinkpads are a bit more pricy, but I reckon the money clearly goes into build quality. They are more rigid, better keyboard, more durable and constructed a lot better than most other laptops. Lenevo have been building laptops for IBM for much longer than they have been branding them as such.
