Not posted in few years, well last few years i've been console gaming (mostly destiny on ps4) and im looking to get back into pc gaming (especially with destiny 2 rumored to be coming to pc).

I built my first pc about 5 years ago and thus far is the only pc i've built. Instead of building my next rig i was thinking of just buying an OcUk or 8 pack pre built rig, and the reason being was that i want a watercooled rig and the process of watercooling had me scared, but after some good you tube tutorials i feel i'm ready to concur the beast.

i remember the satisfaction i had from my first build and would like to feel that again. i was thinking of buy the 8 pack bundle(which ill copy in) but was wondering if an overclocked cpu is necessary.

i understand that time wasters are valid and i can assure you that im not, you can check my post history. i have a budget of 8K for system alone which must include all water cooling equipment and parts.

Xtreme X99 Bundle - Intel i7 6950X @ 4.4GHz Overclocked Entusiast Gaming Bundle

Plz feel free to spec me a build, and ill keep you all updated with progress.

The 1080Ti cards are released this week, just hold on a few days and see what price they land at over here in the UK.

But if you assume say £700 each.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £3,763.05
(includes shipping: £15.30)

Did you need a monitor and keyboard+mouse etc?

No i already have key board and mouse, ill be getting a new 4k monitor but i have a separate budget for this, thanks for the reply

Water blocks usually come very fast indeed.

Had a bit more of a play trying to spend the dollars on epic stuff,

I realise that your budget may be huge, however my purely personal opinion is that anything above the below is pretty much pointless - you'll be spending a few £k extra for very little or no gain. If you really want to just get the 6950X for bragging rights then sure, but the Ryzen 1800X is pretty close to it for only a third of the price; that's £1k that you could spend on almost two (!) 2TB SSDs, or a second 1080Ti and a new keyboard and mouse, or whatever else.

Wait for the 1080ti to be released (add another £100 or so to the below per card I think), and obviously whatever watercooling costs you want as well.

Another point - spending this much and still using spinning drives is frankly ridiculous, unless you need several TB of storage (in which case, unless you really need it to be fast, just get a decent NAS and keep it in a cupboard or under the stairs or somewhere else out of the way). You can get 1TB or even 2TB SSDs, they'll be silent and much, much faster than a spinning drive. However, any SSD above 1TB carries a pretty hefty price premium, so it's really down to how much in-the-case-fast storage you need.

Also, don't be fooled into thinking that water cooling is automatically better; an air cooler like the Noctua NH-D15 keeps up with most AIO water coolers, and often at lower noise levels. Budget for decent, large case fans as well so that they spin slow (therefore quiet) and provide enough air flow to cool everything easily.

The example spec below would blow almost anything out of the water (add/change CPU cooling, fans etc as you prefer). Keep in mind that some coolers don't have AM4 brackets yet (including the H115i in the spec).

Total: £3,151.78
(includes shipping: £0.00)

So far ive landed on this, decided to not go with the overclocked bundle, and ive swapped out the 6950x for the 6900k.

what case would you recommend for watercooling, thining of a super big case as this will be my first water cooled build so was wanting to have as much leeway as possible

I will also be running two 1080ti in sli

You don't need anywhere near 1500W. Also spending £1K on an Intel 8 core cpu is just wasting money when you can get a Ryzen for a 1/3 of the price. If you are just gaming then 16GB Ram is also plenty.

Most of my components arrived today, just waiting on my Samsung pro m2 getting delivered tomorrow.

Now that the case arrived i can get to ordering parts for my watercooling setup.

cant believe how well built the packaging is for the case, no doubt that was a chunk of the hefty price tag.

[edit] I also have to purchase my graphics cards.

Thanks, Finally got round to fitting cpu, water block, and ram. nervous ive dont something wrong and damaged my parts, especially as i wont have graphics cards and watercooling stuff till next week to check if its working or not, this is only my second build and im completely out my depth. Wouldnt have felt the same though buying pre built.

You've spent more on a case than most peoples setups, fair shout as I couldn't afford one.

Yeah i appreciate that, im not here to flaunt what ive got, the past six months i had convinced myself that i was going to be buying a highend pre built machine. Now that im building myself im actually saving some dollar (providing i dont **** it up).

Just make sure you do a 24 hour soak test before powering it on, especially if this is your first we set up. Be a shame to see a leak ruin your stuff.

Nice case too :)
