Please spec me a Home Cinema System with optical input please

I want a sound system to use with my PC and games console in the future.

I have been considering the Logitech Z5500
Pioneer Xbox 360 speaker system
Spherex Xbox speakers
Hifi separates

I want to spend between £100-200

from what ive been reading, you cannot get 5.1 surround sound from a PC (audigy) to a av amplifier, using digital output.

reason is that most pc games arent dobly digital
so if you select digital ouput on your card , it just sends a stereo signal to the amplifier.

anyone care to comment

You need an amp with analogue 5.1 inputs to do that. Ie you have 5x 3.5mm to phono cables running from the sound card to the amp.

Or a sound card that will do realtime DD5.1 / DTS encoding

I was talking to a guy it Ritcher Sounds just last week and brought up the Spherex Xbox system. They only have a couple left but he told me for the money it was easily the best sounding system he'd heard. If I hadn't decided on a seperate amp/receiver I would have definately got one.

Here's a couple of good reviews.

Or maybe he was trying to flog the last few ;)

Lol, they didn't actually have any left (in Hull) and he knew I was interested in buying a seperate amp/speaker so he had nothing to lose :)

Fair point though :)
