Current Setup:
Plusnet FTTC (Pretty much max speed)
BT's modem attached to the master socket.
TG582n linked to the modem and to an ethernet wall socket, which then connects to another TG582n as a secondary wireless access point and desktop computer wired directly.

We have a lot of devices, a lot of gaming, streaming, downloading. And frankly these freebie devices just aren't up to the job. Please can OcUK'ers spec me a new setup. The best devices for the job, I don't think I'm going to worry about AC for now, just N and backwards compatibility because we have a few old laptops and devices.

So in summary, a wireless modem/router at the source, and a bridge or access point (not sure on the terminology).

The Asus RTN66U seems to be best around for the money at present. Should you still need a wireless AP booster you can still then use one of the TPLink ones.

E: If your budget is less the RTN56U is pretty damned good.

Yes my initial research suggests the N66U is the modern marvel. The AP needs a wired connection also, is there a recommended one for that?

Er, Cat5e cabling? Not quite sure what you mean.

Disable DHCP/Routing on the TPlink and plug it into one of the lan ports on the N66U, then use it as a AP, like you do now?

E: FYI the N66U is on special offer this week.
