So, I want to build the cheapest quiet, cool, home server to provide central wired and wireless storage for my home network of Macs and PCs. I want it to be as simple as possible so I'm thinking to use Windows Home Server Software.

I already have a quality CoolerMaster Praetorian case an ASUS A8V mother board , and several 500gb Hard disks.

But the current Video card (NVIDIA 6800), PSU, case fans and chip cooler on the AMD3500+ are noisy and generate too much heat.

So, keeping my mobo and existing 2GB if possible, I'd like to buy new components with heat and noise in mind.

So I think Im asking for ideas for CPU/Cooler/PSU/Video card

Flog the lot and get a Atom based PC.

2GB of DDR still has value, I'm pretty sure you could get rid of all that S939 stuff and get a low wattage Atom 330 based system with the money to spare.
