Looking for recommendations for a decent gigabit switch for heavy home use,

ideally 16 port and access to the outside world will be Virgin media 350meg. connected via their modem.

will be running a tenda mesh network off of one port and everything else will be hard wired (couple of consoles for the boys and a plex server for internal use only but which will potentially could be running 2/3 4k streams at a time.

budget concious and unmanaged(or easy to setup) is the priority.

suggestions welcome

Anything will be fine, I think you'd struggle to find a switch that wasn't broken that couldn't manage line-rate throughput.

The TP Link TL-SG1016D looks like a good option as it has an internal power supply.

I'd agree with the sentiment of going a bit beyond what you think you need - so many times I've wished I did that.

Not sure they do a 24 port variant but TBH I've been pretty happy with the Netgear GS series for anything non-enterprise usage - they come in both managed and unmanaged variants and have been completely transparent in use - never any issues with performance, etc. and so far lasted for years fine.

tp link listed above, ordered :)

nearly got caught out with the DS variant which is only 100mb

just need to sort cable and some crimping tools and we're good to start drilling holes in the ceilings and floors ,divorce or stabbing incoming

350mbps isn't heavy load for a gigabit switch. At layer 3, anything will do what you need. If you need any packet inspection or filtering, then you may need more processing capability.
