Hi all,

Spending 5 nights in Vegas, then 7 nights on the beach all inclusive (somewhere!). This will take place this August so looking to book asap.

Rough breakdown:
Budget: £5000
Flights: £2400
Vegas hotel: £600
Caribbean resort: £2000

Questions:
Vegas hotel - which would you go for:
MGM
A ria
Caesars palace
Elara
Venetian
Mirage
Planet Hollywood

Is it worth driving to Grand Canyon and Hoover dam for the day - or plane?

Any ideas which resort in the Caribbean? Or should I be looking elsewhere - Hawaii?

Cancun, Dominican and Cuba are off the list.

Thanks in advance!

Out of those, Aria hands down. I'd still go Wynn or Encore over those though.

The rest are pretty crappy now. I'd say it's worth the trip, it's an amazing scene.

Hawaii is amazing but hardly worth it for 7 days. It's a long way to go for just a beach holiday. The most interesting stuff to do is on the big island whereas the best beaches are on Maui. You'll probably feel rushed if you island hop on such a short visit.

All inclusive tends to mean pretty crappy hotels tbh. And with your budget you should have no issues paying for food and drink.

Decent hotels don't tend to do them as "all inclusive" clientele isn't their target market.

If you drink a lot then there is always duty free to be stocked up on. Drinking is usually the expensive part, food is much of a muchness everywhere. Plus with all inclusive your restricted to the hotel. When you can be spending lunch/dinners elsewhere.

A chopper tour over the Grand canyon would be a nice experience, If I was going to America I'd try to get at least a couple of the areas famous landmarks in, And while you're there you can't miss the worlds largest rubber-band ball (I'm kidding).

Stayed in the Wynn myself and it's definitely worth the money, next time would like to try the A.ria but the Wynn takes some beating.

If you're going to Vegas you have to do the chopper over the Grand Canyon, all that way and doing one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced would be a shame.

If you fancy Hawaii, I recommend Maui. Agreed with above, might not be enough time to island hop, we did 6 nights in Maui and 4 in Honolulu.

I don't recommend all-inclusive, if it even exists there, I imagine it's rather expensive (Hawaii is already expensive). Budget might need to push a little to the top end, £2k isn't going to get far in Hawaii for "top quality".

A few years ago on our honeymoon we stayed at the below, absolutely amazing place, I highly recommend.

Mods - Please can we have a Travel sub-section? :) All of this has been answered so many times! :)

A few years back we did

2 nights vegas
1 night grand canyon
1 night vegas
7 nights in Waikiki
3 nights in San Fran

Was an amazing trip, I would definitely recommend Hawaii but pick one island and stick to it you don't have time for much else in a week.

Personally, I wouldn't do Vegas and Waikiki. I know Waikiki (i.e. Honolulu) is the easiest place in Hawaii to get to but it's also the least interesting.

It has lots of great restaurants and shops but a incredibly narrow beach. It's basically Vegas minus the gambling and with a tiny of sand. Iconic but overrated. As someone above said, Maui is where it's at for beach holidays in Hawaii.

Save your money, that's way too much to spend on a holiday both of you will forget a few years down the line when married life kicks in

Seems too busy to me, how about just relaxing more and go on a nicer holiday when you are not newly married, just get a nice hotel might be one take. You might need more of a rest after the ceremony then you realise

Cancun, Dominican and Cuba are off the list.

Soon Cuba will not exist as it does right now, frozen in time from sanctions which have been lifted after half a century

We did 10 Nights in Vegas and then 7 in Waikiki for our honeymoon, was over 10 years ago now mind. We stayed in the Riveria, it wasn't bad. If I was to go back I would want to stay in the Venitian or Bellagio.

We did a package thing for the Grand Canyon. Flew out there in a King Air (10 seat light aircraft), Helicopter down into the Canyon and then a boat trip up and down the river a bit. Was ok. The highlight was seeing my wife's face when the helicopter lifted. Was pure terror, lol.

Waikiki was nice but got a bit boring after a while (we're not really beach people). Pearl Harbour was the highlight of Hawaii.

Agree (in part) with this. It's a pretty generic holiday with a big budget.

Why not aim for something more unique/memorable?

600 quid is unlikely to get you 5 nights in top Vegas hotel these dates, to give yourself a much better chance make sure you avoid Friday and Saturday nights

MGM - location not great and fairly unremarkable
A ria - bit awkward to gte in and out of but smart hotel
Caesars palace - not remotely worth the prices they charge
Elara - don't know much about the place
Venetian - perfectly nice place to stay
Mirage - could do with an update but OK
Planet Hollywood - can be good value and perfectly OK

Bellagio with a lake view room would be the natural choice but likely to be quite a bit over budget

don't forget resort fees which will add around £30 a night

Waikiki is only a short drive from the north shore which has endless acres of sand is really quiet and isn't a raging surfers paradise in our summer. I wouldn't recommend Waikiki for a 'beach' holiday but there is tons to do on the island like walking in the hills etc.
