All jokes aside, the hoover we use leaves dust and bits everywhere, almost as if it has an extractor fan inside it.

I need a new upright one that will last, with a long cord, but i dont want a Dyson, i had one, it broke within the first month...

Thanks

I was a student last year and we brought a hoover (yes I know shock horror) but we wanted a cheap one so we got an Argos own brand. The it was very powerful and was as good/better than my parents dyson.

The amount of stuff we sucked up that thing was amazing, from glass to general crap and it was still good as new 15 months later.

We have an original Henry hoover which was a wedding present from my in-laws from back in 1981. This was when they were just new out. It still works flawlessly to this day believe it or not.

We did replace it with a Dyson about 10 years ago, but that bust within a few months so back to the Henry we went. We also haven't used a bag in it for about 20 years. Recommended.

I still don;t get how people still recommend henry, they might last but they are rubbish at cleaning.

Been impressed with my Panasonic fold N go, but doesn't look like they make them any more, so not much help.

Henry's are sturdy and reliable, however if you have a lot of carpet they aren't that great, hard floor they are good though, but large area's of carpet they suck (in a bad way).

Can't recommend a suitable upright, as the only one I can recommend is the one we use at work However £500 is a bit out of your budget I guess :P

Make sure it has a rotating brush and it should be fine for carpet.

Another vote for sebo, miele are nice but they're massive things. A sebo is nice and light and effortless to use.
