Spec me a hoover!

If you are going to buy a Vax, ensure that you get one that uses multi cyclonic technology. If you don't then you'll find that the filters clog extremely easily and you lose a huge amount of performance.

Damn. I just bought one of those 70 quid vax uprights. Knew there had to be a downside to it being so cheap, as it seems to pick up better than the old dyson. Oh well if it lasts for 2 years then it'll probably be worth it.

My old Vax I was forever stripping and cleaning filters. The new one I have is a huge, huge improvement

This is the one I've got at the moment

Yea I got the cylinder cyclonic one, its really good and I have to keep at 40% power because it sucks up the carpet even with a full cylinder. Guess I didnt need to get a vac of this power lol.

Don't get a Dyson, they're terrible. The guy who rented the flat before me left his one and I hated it. My neighbour 2 doors down tried it and said it wasn't working properly. She said I could have her old one (which was exactly the same model) telling me she swears by it and it's a great machine. I hate that one as well.

I was going to buy myself a Henry as I found them to be excellent when I was a cleaner but I solved the problem much more simply (albeit more expensively) - by employing the aforementioned neighbour to do my cleaning for me. If she likes the bloody thing so much, she can use it :D

It's essentially a motor and a fan in a plastic box, the simplest and most reliable is a Henry if you hit homebase on a 20% off weekend they are cheap, we've had two in the last 15 years and only gave the last one away as it was covered in paint and the missus was moaning.

Which Dyson was it? The DC25 made the carpets at an old rented flat white again! Suction pole isn't that strong though :(

Would just like to mention Vax. My parents had one of the original Vax 3 in one cleaners, lasted 26 years.

They bought a new upright Vax, was all black, this was the model >> Power VX 2 U89-P2-VX

Anyway, after exactly a year, the ignition woudn't stay on, so they contacted Vax and they sent a courier to collect next day, within 3 days a brand new Vax arrived, a better model! >> Power 4 Pet U90-P4-P - 2000 watts, 300 air watts.

You can get them for around £70 originally £130rrp, they are very good, I would scout around for the <£100> models, better wattage/air watts.

If you got £200+ I would just get a Dyson.
