After recently building and completing an OC on a new 4790k system, I'm now wishing to build a HTPC.
The last time I was looking to build one of these I was considering something based on on an AMD Kaveri 7850k as at the time that seemed to be the best cpu for the purpose. Have times changed / better tech released?
I'm looking to use the HTPC predominantly for movies streamed from a central server with a slight chance of playing games in the future hence my original suggestion of a 7850.
So please can you spec a build for me?
I'm not biased towards Intel or AMD.
Budget is approx £500, needs to include windows 8.1. I'm easy on budget if there's value in going higher.
Case is to look like a black slab / big AV receiver look (like a silverstone GD06)
Must be silent / very quiet
Only needs an OS drive and wish to use a small SSD for this purpose.
Video and audio to be output over HDMI to an AV receiver
