Looking at getting a HTPC to go with my new setup.

The case wants to blend in with my Denon AVR-1905 amp.

What I need:

  • HDMI
  • Optical Out
  • Quiet / Silent
  • Running Vista Media Centre
  • HD/Blu-Ray playback
  • Upscale
  • Only need a drive for Vista, would conisder a flash drive for Vista install [not an ssd]

Look forward to hearing your suggestions

Add to this any black Silverstone case. OcUK doesn't sell any. Perhaps you'd like the LC02?

The mobo here has integrated ATi HD 3200 graphics which will neatly do hardware acceleration of a bunch of popular HD formats. With that help the CPU is more than enough.

Don't put Vista on a flash drive unless it has intense wear leveling. Vista, and Windows OSes in general, tend to make heavy use of swap. Writing to a flash disk in the same areas all the time is going to slow it down, reduce its capacity, and eventually kill it.

I do, OTOH, use a 2 GiB CompactFlash card in my HTPC with great results. I have a gig of RAM in it and I've set a 300 MiB swap partition that never gets used. This is with a Linux OS though, so the situation is a bit different.
