Spec me a HTPC

Hello

I'm after a HTPC, going to plug it into my TV via HDMI so it needs to be able to play 720/1080p video direct from the hard drive.

Only other requirement is that it must be as cheap as possible

This is a nice case if you dont like the antec, Lian-li.
Also if you intend to play Hi-def media from a hard drive i would get at least 1 x 1tb drive.

I really like that Lian-li case. What sort of vid card were you thinking?

Onboard grahics on a 780G motherboard should be ok.

I would have thought an Intel system based around the E5300 with an ATI 4350 would be better... but maybe a little more expensive.

just a thought, but isn't getting PC6400 RAM overkill for such a system?

then again price of PC5300 is not much less, so you're not going to save much

Overkill and a lot more expensive

Htpc with 4350 would be better if it was required. Imho there is no need to buy graphic card.Integrated one will be ok.
