Hi.

I fancy grabbing a stick for use in arcade games.

Streetfighter and the like but also arcade shooters/platformers.

Looking to spend around £40 notes...

Can anyone recommend anything?

Cheers.

So you are looking for an arcade stick and not a joystick. Check the lioncast arcade.

Quality arcade sticks are expensive. If you think about SF or Tekken seriously, you need something like a Razer Panthera, Qanba Obsidian or a Hori RAP4 Kai (this one has the best price-quality ratio according to many people).

It also depends on whether you want a Japanese or a Korean stick, they're quite different.

I'm using the PS4 pad v2 as I feel comfortable with it and couldn't justify the expense.

Not sure about prices atm but every now and then there are deals on for madcatz sticks & HORI sticks.

I have a HORI fightstick 3 which I bought for £25
I later replaced the buttons & stick with sanwa parts but it was fine for playing SF3 + SF4 on PC & PS3 before replacing the parts.

I wanted a stick for a few of the old arcade games really, reckon it would be more fun (emus and Steam remakes etc). I thought why not choose one with 6 buttons for Streetfighter etc.

Plenty to think about here. I used to play Streetfighter years ago to a decent level. Went to Capcom tournaments and travelled up to the main hang outs in London.

Anyways, it seems that if you want to play "properly" you need to spend a few quid (for Streetfighter).

Although saying that mortals idea seems decent. And I may check out the Lioncast one. The others are out of my price range for what I want tbh :)

Cheers for the info.

Personally I use 2x SNES official pads and a USB converter. It'll work perfect what you seem to require and is within your price range - ~£15 each for an official SNES pad and ~£15 for a SNES to USB adapter
