Hi guys, as the subject says! Looking for a new kettle ours is covered in limescale, the outter paint is peeling and it's getting minging... Looking for a suitable replacement and need suggestions?!

Requirements are needs a filter/plastic filter that can be easily cleaned (hard water in Lincolnshire) and not cost a fortune (ideally less than £50). Don't really mind if it's a bit loud so long as it does the other bits well, like boil the water.

Seen some that have temp controls for 70c, 80c and 90c which is cool! But probably a pointless gimmick for me and the wife I think.

Cheers :D

£10 Tesco special... ;)

I replaced mine with a nice £50 glass one ... Switch snapped off just out of warranty. Tesco one is back out of it's box and boiling water like a champ...

I have a Russell Hobbs Colour Plus Kettle 20412, 3000 W, 1.7 L. It boils water fast, has a filter, and looks really nice :D.

(I spent far too long debating between red or black, ended up with Red!)

I saw that one, but instead started looking at this one ... can’t decide!

Oh and as for Tesco specials, we have them at work in the kitchen and I think the water tastes rank! Might be works water feed though than the kettle.....

I had that Andrew James, rubbish, broke down after one year, the LED even less.

We've got a Russell hobs fast boil one at home which i got for about £40 or £50 and it is quick to boil but it's corroding around the spout and tends to get steam all over your hands when you pour which isn't ideal :(

In work we have exactly the same as above £10 tesco black kettle and it's fantastic and not missed a beat in about 4 or 5 years with far harder use than the home one has, i'd buy one of them again in a heartbeat.

If I lived in a hardwater area I'd get a super market special as kettles and hard water just don't mix so owningva nice one is a waste of money. We have a dualit classic cost a fortune but looks amazing and has an unbelievably good anti drip spout.

Our fancy glass LED kettle fell to bits lately, and since we're having building work done we went for a fairly modestly priced replacement

Whilst there's not much to choose between kettles, they all just heat water after all, I really like this one as it has the smoothest pouring action of any kettle I've owned. Perfect for making my flask up at 4:30 in the morning when I need all the help I can get :D

If you buy a Ninja KT201EU (EU = euro power plug), 0,5 - 1,7 liters, the beeper can be turned off by pressing and holding down 'hold' button & 'minus' button, for a few seconds.
The 201 version afaik is an improvement over the older 200 model as I understand it.
Although the box says 3000W, measured power draw was much less, about 2600W or something like that.
Only potentially bad thing I can think of, is that the single layer metal can get very hot to the touch.
Kettle base shows current temp with a digital display as it warms up and cools, which is nice.
With preset buttons for 60, 70, 80, 90, 95, and 100 deg C, a minus and plus button adds adjustements in increments in 5 deg C as well.
Says in the manual.. to always unplug the device after use.. never ever use an extention chord for the kettle.

I like my Xiaomi kettle it has lasted 6 years so far not bad for £30 when it was on sale.

Not sure if they have newer models I expect so.

Downsides it is big plus heavy.
