I’d like a digital keyboard that has these features:

Good quality sound
88 Keys
Touch Sensitive Keys
General MIDI compatible
Able to hook it up to my computer
velocity and aftertouch features (what should I be looking for)?
More then 64 notes of polyphony
(most of those are probably standard anyway)

Im not going to be using it for composing and writing music, it’s just for me in my room to help me learn. The one I have is about 7 years old and has about 12 keys (exaggeration) and they keys are really thick so it’s hard to reach anything more then an octave.

I don’t really have a budget.. maybe under £500?

I also don’t know where to look for buying keyboards so if anyone could give me some sites would be great thanks.

if your going to use it for learning then i would just get a midi keyboard/controller and use your computer as a sound source, its a lot cheaper and just as effective.

there are some great sounding vst instruments out there , { native instruments , spectrasonics } but saying that ,these packages are expensive, so shop around.

http://www.maudio.co.uk have a great range of equipment.

Probably better off getting a control surface with organ keys if normal sized keys are a problem for you. You'll get more for your money that way if you are not going to gig with it.

Then get hold of Cubase and Reason in an "obviously legal way"and make your own VST instruments. :) And you've probably got yourself sorted for around £150 if you don't need a controller with pads, bend wheels, and channel level sliders/knobs/faders.
