Has to have backlit keyboard

Will be used for general office apps and all purposes for a student going to Uni. No intensive apps or gaming or encoding duties. Screen size preference is 14-15 inch.

Have you considered a MacBook Air? The cheapest one is in budget, and you can get a student discount. You can also run Microsoft Office natively, and the battery life is amazing.

Thanks. Damn I forgot about student discount. That's something I should have looked into but it's a present for said student so may have given the game away. Never mind.
In the end I went with a deal I saw online for an Asus Zenbook 14 OLED. Seemed to feature a good balance between portability, good build, OLED screen and decent enough specs whilst still having good battery being Ryzen 5 U processor.
