Spec me a laptop for coding/development plz

Mainly for mobile app development (will be studying this soon).

No graphic design.

Budget £300-400 or so.

I alerted @ExRayTed to move your thread into the dedicated laptop forum - that's what he was referring to when he said "on it" - and he managed it very quickly. The hope was you would get more traffic from laptop gurus (or aficionados - @MiSJAH ) , rather than in the General Hardware Forum.

^ For your criteria and budget - 8Gb/16Gb with a decent CPU - you're looking at the right outlets as you will probably need to get a refurbished machine to fill your quota. I would keep on searching - but unfortunately no-one will be able to give you a direct competitors link due to Forum rules. But they could name the laptop/model to help you with your search if they knew of a model that fitted your brief.

Secondhand Dell with a quad core I7 and 16GB RAM off the 'bay is your best bet.

That's a limited budget when entry level I5's are over £500 now.

My usual recommendation is a used Thinkpad T series (T440, 440s, 450, 450s, etc) or a Thinkpad X1.
