Spec me a laptop please

Hey everyone,

Im starting a networking course and also learning web design in my spare time and im after a laptop that I could use for both. I would also like to watch dvd's on it and I wont be needing it for playing games etc.

Im really not sure what spec I should get ie: I dont want to go out and spend £1000 on one if a £600 one could do the job just as well..

Any help would be much appreciated.

Or if finding an actual laptop is asking too much, could someone let me know what kind of spec I'd be best looking for.

Ideally Core Duo or core 2 duo, for around £500 to £600 would be ideal. You should be looking for a big HD, plenty of RAM (1-2GB), a decent size/resolution screen and as light as possible (I prefer sub 2kg myself, but they get more expensive). I like Fujitsu Siemens, but also Sony, Rock, make good laptops.
