Ill get the obvious out of the way first

NO LINKS TO COMPETITORS PLEASE!

Looking for:

Core 2 Duo T5500+ processor
1gig+ Ram (pref 667Mhz)
Ati 1800/Nvidia 7800+ Graphics
Widescreen

Other than that im easy.
Just some models of laptop that fit the above, preferably under £850 (its do-able).

I've also been looking for a laptop around the same spec.
The best one i've found for the price is the Asus F3JA-AP024P. It's not "Core 2 Duo", just "Core Duo" but it's got an excellent gfx card and it's very portable too. Small and light(2.5kg).

# Intel Centrino Core DuoT2250 Processor 1.7 GHz
# 1024 MB DDRII-533MHz SDRAM
# 100 GB Hard Drive
# DVD SuperMulti Drive - To read DVDs and CDs and write CDs, DVD+, DVD-
# 15.4" WXGA Widescreen TFT Screen
# ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 PCI-E 256 MB HyperMemory graphics

Best price I've seen is £789.97 inc VAT

Another good one is the Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi 1546 (T5500 version).
This has the "Core 2 Duo" and is also 17".

# Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 Processor 1.66GHz
# 1024MB DDR2 RAM
# 80GB hard drive
# 17” TFT WXGA CrystalView display
# DVDRW Dual Layer Optical Drive
# Integrated Wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11 b/g)
# 256MB ATI Radeon X1800 Graphics

Best price I've seen is £889.99 inc VAT

im on the lookout too for laptop and indeed the asus f3ja or the jp are the best ones out there.. just be advised that i think the x1600 in that laptop are maybe hypermemory cards so they share memory with RAM

go for the Amilo Xi1546 << thats what i was going to get before this Dell.

Also if you are getting a laptop for light to medium gaming try to get one which is MXM compatible (basically means you can change the graphics card) I believe the Xi1546 is MXM compatible.

hrmm ? the x1600 will definately have some dedicated memory. (256mb dedicated probably) It is a dedicated graphics card but its probably advertised with a lot more memory because the rest of the memory is shared.(so it sounds like its only an option and you would be able to adjust that in the bios/system settings)

yeah someone told me that a 256 card will sometimes be advertised as 512 but really it only has 256 dedicated and then it will take another 256 from RAM if necessary.. dont ask me to explain it!

Well till today was working for fujitsu-siemens, waiting for that lappy to come up again for staff purchase (but wanted one for xmas hence asking now and staff purchase was off over xmas). Now unfortunately parted ways so have to see :( :)
Staff purchase price was £720 too :( will have to keep at least 1 old colleague sweet :D
Really didnt think they'd be the best thing out there tho!

BTW i been looking in meantime too and look at Zoostorm - not sure if they just a make or a boutique laptop manufact that make and sell so sorry if the latter, ill remove it.
