Basically the guy needs a laptop for "entertainment" - ie usual web surfing etc plus watching DVDs. He also wants to take it on holiday so doesn't wan't anything tooo heavy, though features/performance are the higher priority.
Budget is £500 MAX.
Anyone recommend anything at price? He knows little about technology himself but he's been told to go for "Duo Core" in his words. I guess he means "Core 2 Duo" if it fits the budget!
