spec me a laptop

Obvious one would be to check out the Dell Vostro range and see what kind of spec you can get for the budget.

Theres this for £479:

Acer Aspire 5633WLMi
Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66Ghz 667 FSB 2MB L2 Cache
2048MB DDR2
120GB HD
15.4" TFT CrystalBrite (1200x800)
DVD±RW Super Multi
Integrated Intel Graphics 128MB
802.11b/g
2.8Kg
1 Year
Windows Vista Home Premium Edition
5-in-1 Card Reader

Not the fastest of CPU's but it has the 2GB RAM needed to run Vista nicely. Also has a nice size HD.

There is also a Fujitsu AMILO LI1705 2G for £399:

FUJITSU SIEMENS
Intel Pentium Dual Core T2080 1.73 GHz 533 MHz 1 MB Cache
2048 MB RAM
80 GB HD
15 inches

Looks an ok deal but only comes with Vista Basic. HD is smaller and CPU looks like the old Dual Core with lower cache.

There is also a 17" model for around £450.

Fujitsu Li718 isnt too bad, £382

Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2080
1.7 GHz, 533MHz FSB, 1MB Cache
Genuine Windows Vista (R) Home Premium
1GB Memory
120GB Hard Drive
Dual Layer DVD ReWriter Drive
15.4" Brightview Widescreen Display
256MB ATI X200 Graphics
Wireless Enabled
4 USB Connections

my appologies my friend corrected me, it actually has Core Duo T2080 on the 120gb HD one so even better :)

That looks like a decent spec to be honest. All you'd need to do is find out whether the RAM is just a single 1GB module or 2 x 512MB and upgrade to 2GB. Vista will thank you for it.

thanks for the replies :)

i was looking at 1gb memory but if 2gb is better for vista then paying for the upgrade might be worth while. do many places that sell laptops do upgrades or would i have to do that my self ?
