Evening all.

The mother is looking for a laptop, but i'v never bought one. So im stuck

She has price limit £600 maybe a bit more. But really im not sure there is a need.

Looking for a decent processor, RAM, hard drive and a blu-ray player, and to be able to hook up to a TV through HDMI. And Wireless N if possible.

She wont be playing any games.

I'v been looking at the Acer 6920G, and Acer Ispire 5920.

Acer 6920G i can't find in stock anywhere for a decent price. best is 520 but no delivery, which is not too helpfull as i live 2 hours away from the nearest city.

Anyone spec anything?

cheers

The Acer 6930G is very similar to the 6920G, and you'll find stock elsewhere for it.

Check out the DV5 series of notebooks from HP

Definitely, i've just got a DV5 1110EM, it looks the dogs and has blu ray, 250gb, 3gb ram, HD3450 GFX and AMD Turion X2 (2.1ghz). I paid £529 for it, it's got £70 off it atm.

yeh i just got p8400 (should have been a P7350 though), 9600MGT, 4 Gig ram, blu ray, 250GB HDD, all for £636

dv5-1010ea

for some reason it came with a P8400 at 2.26GHz not a P7350 @ 2GHz like it should have. maybe they ran out of the P7350 at the assembly line :D

i got mine out last night, setup took about 10 minutes but after that it's really nice to use, the trackpad is really smooth too. I'll be having another play with it later on to install mozilla etc, but first impressions are good, i did want the Acer 6920 really but i'm not disappointed
