I know I should put this in the laptop section but I also know that if I put it there I would not get as much input as in here :)

Basicly, I'm looking for a laptop on behalf of a friend and I have no clue where to begin so as usual, OcUK to the rescue! (Please?)

It's going to be a desktop replacement so portability isn't really an issue. She listens to quite a bit of music and wants to be able to plug it into her HD TV to watch iPlayer and such off it so nice speakers and a HDMI port is pretty essential. The screen needs to be 17 inches and HD if possible. Performance in applications doesn't matter as she only does small things like word processing and internet so no need for super hardware apart from the screen and speakers.

Hopefully this can all be had for under £800? Long shot or a reasonable budget for a laptop of these requirements?

Thanks for looking and hopefully you can help me. :D

P.S. Please don't suggest Dells. She's had bad experience with them so they're a no go. Cheers!

Looks ok but it's less that 17 inches and I don't know about the speakers? I can't find a review unfortunately.

Asus or nothing. If she's using an HDMI cable to her TV it should route the sound through her TV, so no need for big speakers on the laptop. 17" and larger on Asus at HD 1920x1080 resolution will be in or over 800 quid.

Yes but she doesn't always want to use the TV so good laptop speakers are still essential. And I've had a look at a few Sony's and an Asus and they look good. If the MSI GX660 was under 800 I would suggest that to her as that is supposed to have really good speakers for a laptop. Unfortunately the screen is under 17" :( I'll ask if she's totally attached to getting a 17" screen.
