Its time for a replacement work laptop. Im currently using a Dell Lattitude E series (cant remember model) which is about 2.5 years old.

The default choice at the moment from IT is the following:-

Dell Lattitude E6420 -£1k
i7 4c 2.4ghz
8gb ram
320gb hdd
1600x900 screen
Win7 64.

What I want to know is if theres anything better on the market for a similar price? The only problem with the new dell chassis is that it looks playskool/toytown tbh. much prefer mine.

Absolutely needs to run vmare workstation, SQL, office stuff, Win7 64, dual monitors, projector, decent battery life, screen between 13-14" and a decent keyboard.

What about a MBP 13"?
What stuff do HP and Lenovo do?

for a work laptop you cant really go wrong with a lenovo.

they have great build quality. the last three work laptops I have had have been lenovo, always very reliable.

grat keyboards, layout and battery life.

I'm on a T420 at the moment, compact i5, very nice to use.

ive had a look at the lenovo but with the multitude of models and chassis i cant see which would meet my needs? any ideas?
