Hi,

I'm after a good quality laptop with at least 8GB RAM, a graphic card that would handle games like Diablo 3, i5 or i7. You can see by my sig what I'm used to on my desktop, so would like something similar or better in terms of computing performance. Obviously I don't expect the graphics to be nearly as good, but want them to be decent.

Looking at around £600-800 I guess, lower the better if that's possible!

I'm happy to buy it at 4GB and upgrade as memory is so cheap. Also SATA 3. I'll stick an SSD in there and rebuild when I get it.

15" I guess with a decent resolution (I'm used to a 24", so nice big resolution would be good). Not particularly bothered about the weight of the thing, but I want it to look nice :D. Also decent battery life of course.

Thanks.

I think the best match you gonna get is probably a custom Clevo unit with a i7 4700MQ and GTX765M graphic at around £850 (no OS). However the GTX765M ain't gonna be as fast as your GTX480, it is more like around the performance of the GTX460/6850.

I'm afraid although gaming laptops are "more affordable" now, however they are still expensive.

I'm not after anything close to the performance of my 480 really, I just want it to be able to handle some decent games such as Diablo 3. If that's equivalent of a 460 then shouldn't be a problem?

I'm guessing in terms of every day computing it'll probably match or beat my desktop as it would be the latest i7?

I'm thinking maybe the Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition. For £649 you can get i5 3632QM, 15.6" screen 1080p, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, 2GB AMD 7730M. Only problem is I really don't like that nasty effect they put all over it :(

Thanks.

Just had a look at some of them - very nice. Really good spec for the price. £711 gets me an i5, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GT740M 1GB. Looks like they're good quality although can't find that many reviews on them :/

Few points...

a) Is that laptop you looking at the screen at FullHD Res (1920x1080)?

b) Even if it was only for 1366x768 res, I wouldn't go for anything lower than the 650M/750M

c) Gaming at 1920x1080 res the 765M 2GB should be the bare minmium

d) i5 for laptop is different from desktop, it only has two physical cores plus 2 HT. You need i7 to get 4 physical cores

You might want to have a look at this and tweak it:
