I'm looking at buying a new laptop and i could really do with some advice on what to go for.

I travel a lot and work from my laptop. I had quite a nice Sony Viao with a 13.3 inch screen, i7, 8gb of ram and 128gbSSD. It did what i wanted well but the motherboard broke after 2 years without much use. This bothers me a lot as it wasn't a cheap laptop so i expected it to last longer and the repair bill is extortionate.

Most Used applications:
MS Office including large spreadsheets and a huge outlook inbox
Adobe In-design
Skype
It would be nice if i had something that could play CS:GO but that isn't essential.

Id like something with a screen size around 13.3" again. Perhaps a 256gb SSD. Reasonable CPU & Ram. Long battery life for working on the road.

A lot of my peers use mac book pro's but i would rather work with windows.

in the same situation at the moment so will be interested in peoples replies - I have been looking at one on the ************ site 13.3 lafite - seems good for the £ according to the reviews

Hi p1RATE,

For the form factor and performance you are looking for, the P34W is worth consideration.

That is the cheaper version, and it has spare mSATA bay that you could install upto 512GB SSD into yourself...

Or there is a version with SSD already on board:

We have spoken to a number of users in the past that have switched from Mac to this unit and been more than happy with build quality, performance and value.

If you wanted to have something more potent and with a bit more grunt and style, then also worth looking at the AORUS X3 range:

Hope that helps,

I've literally just today received a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon, first impressions are that i can HIGHLY recommend it. I got this for the weight and ease of travel with it which appears to fit your needs, and thinkpads are well renowned for their durability.
